Clean School Bus Virtual Workshop
New York Metropolitan Transportation Council, Empire Clean Cities, and the Greater Long Island Clean Cities and Communities Coalition hosted a successful virtual workshop on school bus electrification. The event brought together industry leaders and experts to discuss key federal and state programs, funding opportunities, and practical resources to support the transition to electric school buses. Highlights included presentations by Serina E. Morales from the EPA, Adam Lomasney from NYSERDA, and Joy Gardner of Empire Clean Cities, followed by real-world case studies from Suffolk Transportation Services Inc. and Johnson City Central School District. The workshop provided valuable insights for advancing clean transportation in school districts.

On Monday, July 22nd, at 11:30 am, the team behind "The Bronx is Breathing: Reimagining a Cleaner Hunts Point" hosted a comprehensive webinar covering the availability of electric trucks from manufacturers like Mack and Volvo, the experiences of Hunts Point-based fleets integrating EVs into their operations, and state and local incentives available to reduce the upfront costs of electric trucks.

IDLE NO MORE: SOLUTIONS FOR REDUCING FLEET IDLING IN NY
New York City has taken the enforcement approach through the Citizens Air Complaint Program, which deputizes citizens to record trucks with a cash reward of 25% of the fine. This program incentivizes punitive action against trucking companies without providing them with meaningful alternatives to idling. Fleets do not need more tickets – they need real solutions that will instill best practices and tools to eliminate the need to idle in most cases.
On Thursday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m., representatives from sustainability organizations and the trucking industry gathered to discuss what these solutions could be during an online webinar.
