Transportation Energy Partners (TEP) will host a fully virtual 2021 Energy Independence Summit, which will provide an important opportunity to build on previous clean transportation legislative successes. With the new Biden Administration and a new Congress taking office in January, there will be renewed focus on practical solutions to climate change that will create thousands of new clean energy jobs. - Enact longer-term tax incentives for clean fuels, vehicles, and infrastructure.
- Include significant funding increases for vehicles and fueling infrastructure in major green infrastructure initiatives the new Administration and Congress are developing.
- Strengthen the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
- Authorize the DOE Clean Cities Program.
- Explore innovative ideas like a national low-carbon fuel standard to advance markets for cleaner fuels and vehicles.
The 2021 Summit will include two major components:
- On March 3-5, there will be virtual roundtable discussions with leaders of the Biden Administration’s clean transportation team, key Congressional committees, federal agencies, and the electric vehicle, natural gas, propane, biofuels, and hydrogen industries.
- March 8-12 will be Capitol Hill Week, where TEP will organize more than 300 virtual meetings with House and Senate offices. This will be a great opportunity to showcase how fuels, technologies, and projects are reducing emissions and creating thousands of clean energy jobs in communities across America.

Who Takes Care of New York? Community Exhibit September 12-29Who Takes Care of New York? is a community exhibit at the Queens Museum. The exhibit is an exploration of the variety of civic groups that exist and thrive in New York City, and the ways that they care for and support their local environments. As an environmental organization, ECC participated in the surveying and interview process in 2007 and 2017. Displayed through maps, art, and storytelling, this exhibition aims to empower visitors with an understanding of their capacity to make lasting changes in their neighborhoods. |
National Drive Electric Week is an annual "nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more." Empire Clean Cities worked with partners and stakeholders to facilitate Drive Electric Week events across New York. |
Climate Solutions Summit, SUNY New Paltz September 21The Climate Solutions Summit aims to build a larger movement that is prepared to take action for climate solutions. The summit is an opportunity for organizers and people from all communities across the region to come together to share projects, case studies, resources, experiences and skills to tackle climate change and implement solutions. Our booth on 3rd Ave between 80th and 81st street in Manhattan featured information about the benefits of driving electric, using sustainable fuel options such as biodiesel, and our Charge to Work program. |
Pathways to Decarbonization in the NortheastEPRI’s 2019 U.S. Symposium Series provided Empire Clean Cities and all attendees with a deeper dive into the specific, regional issues and opportunities associated with end use electrification, and its costs and benefits. Co-hosted by Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships (NEEP) and Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM), “Pathways to Decarbonization in the Northeast” brought together government and regulatory bodies with utilities, researchers, academia, manufacturers, vendors, and industry stakeholders to listen, learn, and network in two primary breakout tracks focused on buildings decarbonization and electric transportation. |
The Irvington Farmer's Market is a weekly outdoor event that runs every Sunday, 9am-1:30pm from June to November. On July 14 and 21, Empire Clean Cities was at the Community Table sharing information about biodiesel, electric vehicle programs, workplace charging, and more! |
2019 Northeast Diesel Collaborative Partners MeetingThe Northeast Diesel Collaborative (NEDC) combines the expertise of public and private partners in a coordinated regional initiative to significantly reduce diesel emissions and improve public health in the eight northeastern states. Empire Clean Cities joined Clean Energy Fuels Corp. on July 10, 2019 for the grand opening of their renewable natural gas (RNG) fueling station located in the Hunt’s Point neighborhood of the Bronx, New York. This is the first station in New York City to exclusively offer renewable natural gas made from waste. The fuel is available for municipal and commercial fleets, as well as any fleet operating inside or near the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center.

The Electric Car Guest Drive on May 18 featured a wide variety of electric cars including the new Tesla Model 3, Tesla Model S, Tesla Model X, and electric cars by Chevrolet, BMW, Mitsubishi, Nissan and others. Displays and educational demonstrations of EV charging stations were available for hands-on viewing at the event. Empire Clean Cities attended and was able to talk about the Charge to Work NY and Smart Charge programs, as well as provide other information about EVs at home, work and in public. |
Thank you to everyone who attended the Empire Clean Cities' 11th Annual Stakeholder Meeting on May 16th, 2019 at the Queens Theatre. The event brought together industry leaders for cutting-edge discussions on emission reduction technologies and initiatives. This year's theme was "Driving the Future: Clean fuels, fleets and technologies" and included nearly 100 guests, 16 speakers, and honored Councilman Costa Constantinides. We were thrilled to once again host our Annual Stakeholder Meeting in conjunction with the 31st Annual NYC Parks' Equipment & Vehicle Show. |

The Regeneron Electric Vehicle Showcase in April 2019 featured the Honda Clarity PHEV and the Nissan Leaf on Regeneron's campus in Tarrytown, New York. Regeneron already offers employee EV charging on site. In celebration of Earth Day, Empire Clean Cities helped answer questions about how to save on the purchase of a new electric vehicle in New York State, taking advantage of federal and state rebates, the Smart Charge NY program, and Charge to Work NY. |
