Overview
The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) is seeking information from vendors to support the development of on-street charging infrastructure for medium and heavy-duty electric trucks.
The City's Goal: Transform NYC's goods distribution system from diesel trucks to electric trucks and alternative freight transport. The City plans to create shared charging depots by 2030 to reduce emissions and get polluting trucks off the streets.

Recognizing the challenges of traditional off-street depot charging in NYC, the City is exploring the feasibility of on-street fast charging for medium and heavy-duty vehicles in key locations:

- Areas near existing freight hubs
- Overnight truck parking areas (City's Overnight Truck Parking pilot)
Who Can Respond?
NYC DOT is seeking expressions of interest from four groups:

- Property Owners interested in partnering to install and/or operate curbside fast chargers, including electrical infrastructure installation behind the property line
- Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Operators interested in partnering to install and/or service curbside fast chargers for medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles
- Fleet Operators currently operating or planning to operate medium- and/or heavy-duty electric vehicles
- Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment Providers & Operators currently operating or planning to operate DC fast chargers for electric vehicles
