Empire Clean Cities (formerly New York City and Lower Hudson Valley Clean Communities, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit environmental organization with a mission to ensure clean air for future generations. As the designated local US Department of Energy supported Clean Cities coalition, we are part of a national network of nearly 100 coalitions dedicated to advancing the nation's economic, environmental, and energy security by reducing petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.
We are committed to providing citizens and stakeholders access to reliable information about alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies in a timely and efficient manner through the RISE method:
RECOMMEND resources to support an economy that promotes alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction technologies.
INFORM citizens of the benefits of implementing policies and practices that reduce petroleum in on-road transportation.
SUPPORT vehicle-related GHG emission reduction.
ENCOURAGE the conversion of fleets to use alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, and advanced vehicles
Displace 28,127,970 gallons of petroleum, or 669,714 barrels of crude oil
Save $23.4 million @ USD$35/barrel - $33.5 million @ USD/$50 barrel
